What is CWF Roof Grade
CWF Roof Grade protects shingles from moisture attack CWF Roof Grade penetrates deep into the shingles replacing the natural water repelling chemicals lost through the first years of weathering. While water may stand on treated shingles during rain, it does not soak into the wood. After a few minutes of breeeze and sunshine the shingles are dry. They are not shocked by being alternatively soaked and dried out rapidly. CWF Roof Grade makes shingles resistant to U.V. attack. Ultraviolet light attacks the wood fibres in shingles and generates heat which bakes out the natural bindings resins causingthe shingles to become brittle and punky. CWF Roof Grade replaces the natural binder resin adding significantly to the life on the shingles. Shingles protected against moisture and ultraviolet attack are less suspectible to attack from moss, fungus and insects.
When and how to use CWF Roof Grade on shingles new cedar roofs should be treated within 1-3 years after installation, depending on climate. 1.) In humid climates, treat shingles when they loose their brown colour and turn grey. 2.) In dry and arid climates treat roofs with CWF when the shingles bleach out. Older cedar roofs can usually be restored if not more than 2 centimetres of the shake butt ends have been destroyed. Any shingle deterioratd beyond this point should be replaced. NOTE: CWF Roof Grade reacts with sunlight to change the shingle colour from a weathered grey to a warm honey tone. How to apply CWF Roof Grade 1.) Allow for 2 days of warm dry weather before starting 2.) Use a low pressure airless sprayer or a garden sprayer 3.) ALWAYS apply 2 wet on wet coats. When one coat is absorbed - usually within 15-30 minutes - apply the next coat. Do not allow CFW Roof Grade to dry between coats so treat only a manageable are at a time. 4.) Make sure the vulnerable butt ends are well saturated. Direct the spray nozzle atthe butt end of the shingle and make several passes to ensure thorough saturation!
Coverage On new shingles: 10 to 15 sqm per 4 litres of CWF Roof Grade. On old shingles: 4 to 6 sqm per 4 litres of CWF Roof Grade
Care and Maintenance The build-up of leaves, pine needles and other debris on your roof holds excessive Moisture next to the shingles, providing a breeding ground for fungus, mildew and insect infestation. Regular removal of debris will help to keep your shingle roof in sound condition.
